What's keeping you up at night?

Before The Focused Creator was born, this newsletter was a space where I shared what was happening with me.
โ€‹

A space for self-development.
โ€‹

With your permission today, I will share how I have been feeling on a personal level.
โ€‹

I can't quite find the right words, but the closest feeling I can use to describe my current state is sad.
โ€‹

A deep sadness has been looming over me for the last couple of weeks.
โ€‹

My therapist always tells me to "sit with myself" when I don't know the answer to complex questions regarding my mental state, so I am sitting and writing this letter. .
โ€‹

Why am I feeling like this?
โ€‹

A friend of mine sent me this video by Alex Homozi, where he describes uncertainty as one of the hardest things entrepreneurs face. For a while, I thought that was it.

โ€‹

I am putting a lot of work into my current business while building a new one, and I feel uncertain most days.

โ€‹

Will I reap the benefits of my hard work?
Will it be successful?
Will I find purpose and fulfillment?
โ€‹

Those are the questions that keep me up at night. But is it uncertainty or sadness?
โ€‹

As a fairly new mom, I juggle many daily tasks. I am doing my best to tackle motherhood, all while working at all hours of the day, and while I am so grateful to be doing what I do, I also feel overwhelmed at the end of most days.

โ€‹

I question what I am doing with my life a lot. I've even debated about going back to a "regular" job just this week.
โ€‹

I hear postpartum depression can sneak up on you at any time, and I am glad that I have the self-awareness to notice when something is off right away and pay attention.
โ€‹

And this is my wish you as well.
โ€‹

When was the last time you checked in with yourself? โ€‹
โ€‹

When was the last time you "sat with yourself" to determine why you may feel a certain way?
โ€‹

No one can answer these hard questions, but you should know what is going on with you - even if you need to schedule a time to decipher your feelings.
โ€‹

With how busy life has been, I haven't taken the time (yet) to reevaluate how I am operating and what the root cause of my sadness is.

โ€‹

As a working mom, constantly feeling like I have to choose between being a present mother and one that focuses on work does eat at me.
โ€‹

In the meantime, my plan for the next couple of days include:

  1. Yoga and meditation
  2. Schedule time alone to think
  3. Eating a well-balanced diet
  4. Taking my supplements
  5. Drinking a lot more water

โ€‹

Ironically, when we don't care for the physical body, the mental also suffers.

โ€‹

It's only February, and we still have a lot of time left to accomplish those goals. But let's not forget about ourselves in the process.
โ€‹

Spend Time alone

One of the best thing you can do when you are unclear about your emotions or your next move is to stand still. Take the time to think and figure it out instead of pretending everything is okay.

Deep breaths

When we are feeling overwhelmed, and it seems like walls are closing in on you, take several deep breathe. Connect with the body and cultivate a sense of peace within.

One thing at a time

We love to multitask but studies shows we are much more productive when we work one on thing at a time. So close all of your tabs and focus on one thing. You will not only be done faster but you will actually give it your all.
