Most Goals Fail by February

Happy Sunday!

With January in full swing, I know a lot of us are still feeling that fresh-start energy, but let’s be real, most goals tend to fizzle by February.

I want to help make sure that doesn’t happen to you (or me), so here are some practical tips to keep that momentum going strong.

1. Look Back, Then Look Forward

Before diving headfirst into new goals, take a moment to reflect on what went well (and what didn’t) last year. Identify the patterns that boosted your energy and the ones that drained you.

Sometimes it’s not about adding more to your plate, but about subtracting the things that no longer serve you.

2. Spend Time Planning (But Not Too Far Ahead)

Two steps ahead is exactly where you want to be. Ten steps ahead can feel overwhelming or out of touch.

If you’re not making $10 or $100 yet, don’t spend your days planning what you’ll do when you’re making $10 million.

That’s just an ego trip, and it usually leads to frustration.

Instead, ask yourself:

  • Where am I right now?
  • How can I improve by just 10%?

This time of year is perfect to analyze and figuring out what makes you feel alive, happy, and fulfilled.

Yes, look at the numbers as scary as they may be, but also remember to measure what’s truly bringing you joy.

3. What’s Working & Optimization

After some reflection, spend time focusing on what already is working well. The idea is to do more of that, and to optimize as you go.

Maybe your best months happened when you were creating a certain type of content or focusing on a specific project that lit you up.

  • How can you structure your days to spend more time on that project?
  • Is there a way to turn it into an offer or service?

For me, I realized I love writing long-form, deeper content. So I’m shifting my business model to do more of that.

4. Plan for the Future

If you’ve ever sat down to work and spent 30 minutes figuring out what to do, you are wasting TIME. Having a plan saves you from that spiral.

Use this season to map out your content calendar, the books you want to read, and any new products or services you plan to roll out. By the time February hits, you’ll already be in motion—not scrambling to figure out your next steps.

January New Book

By the way, the votes are in, and our next book club pick is What Got You Here Won’t Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith.

It’s all about understanding the habits and mindsets that got us this far.

I’m really excited to dive into this one, especially because I am all about pushing past our current limits and stepping into something greater.

Perfect timing for the start of a new year, right?

I’m excited to keep growing together, step by step.

Remember, it’s not about sprinting through January and crashing by February. It’s about setting the pace you can maintain all year long.

Let’s make 2025 the year we finally follow through on what matters most.

Weekly Reflection

The question I am asking myself this week ❓

What’s the single step I can take right now that’ll get me 10% closer to my goal?

This week's quote that made me think 💬

“Small steps in the right direction can turn out to be the biggest steps of your life.” – Unknown
